Zusammenfassung
Die menschliche Lautsprache entsteht durch die gleichzeitige, fein koordinierte und besonders differenzierte Funktion dreier Organsysteme: Atmung, Stimmgebung und Lautbildung. Wie alle Organe des Körpers stehen sie unter der ständigen Leitung des Gehirns, von welchem alle nervösen Bewegungsimpulse ausgehen. Es handelt sich dabei um sehr komplizierte Leistungen des ganzen Gehirns, weil seine Rinde, die tiefen Koordinations- und Assoziationszentren sowie die efferenten Bahnen und die bulbären Kerne an der harmonischen Äußerung der psychischen Vorgänge beteiligt sind. Die Sprache ist eine seelische Leistung. Das Sprechen ist eine Äußerungsweise der Sprache, daher keineswegs ein bloß mechanischer Vorgang. Die Hauptaufgabe der zum Sprechen benötigten peripheren Ausführungsorgane besteht in der Erfüllung lebenswichtiger Aufgaben. Diese sind stammesgeschichtlich viel älter als die erst vom Menschen entwickelten Sprechbewegungen. Man findet daher eine wesentlich verschiedene Funktionsweise, je nachdem die vitale oder die phonische Leistung vorliegt.
