Tumours of the Posterior Part of the Third Ventricle: Neurosurgical Criteria

  • F. Isamat
Part of the Advances and Technical Standards in Neurosurgery book series (NEUROSURGERY, volume 6)

Included in this title are the tumours localized within the posterior part of the third ventricle as well as those arising from the pineal region. Pineal region tumours often fill part of the third ventricle and since they may be invasive within the ventricle should not be considered as pure extraaxial neoplasms. Furthermore some neoplasms arising from meninges, vascular and connective tissue within the velum interpositum may involve the cistern and the tela choroidea causing compression of the roof of the posterior part of the third ventricle.
