Wall lesions involving the V. A. are of multiple causes, among which atherosclerosis is largely predominant. Pathologic studies, more frequent angiographic investigations, and operative data have contributed to better knowledge of the atherosclerotic lesions involving the extracranial V. A. and their clinical consequences.
