Abstract
Only a few investigations and observations exist on the embryonic development of the spinal vessels in man. Ontogenetic studies by His (1887), and more recently by Torr (1957) and Di Chiro etal. (1973) were supplemented by detailed phylogenetic studies, especially those of Sterzi (1904). The examination of early vascularization patterns is facilitated by the apparent similarity of the embryonic development of spinal vessels in higher vertebrates.
