Zusammenfassung

Selektive Serotonin Wiederaufnahmehemmer (SSRI) werden als moderne Antidepressiva erfolgreich eingesetzt. Die antidepressive Wirkung entspricht jener der herkömmlichen tri- und tetracyclischen Antidepressiva (Kasper et al. 1992). Nebenwirkungen und Toxizität sind jedoch in einem viel geringeren Ausmaß gegeben (Boyer et al. 1991). Die Hemmung der Serotonin Wiederaufnahme bei Menschen wurde bis jetzt nur auf indirektem Weg gezeigt: die Serotonin Wiederaufnahme in Blutplättchen, erniedrigte Serotoninspiegel im Blut, Plasma und Blutplättchen unter Therapie mit SSRI, konnten gemessen werden (Wood et al. 1983, Kremer et al. 1990).
