Österreichs modernste Walzwerkstechnologie setzt auf Profibus

Abstract

Im Jahre 1996 modernisierte die Firma VOEST ALPINE Stahl LINZ GmbH ihr Kaltwalzwerk 2 von Grund auf. Neben umfangreichen mechanischen Änderungen wurde die gesamte Automatisierungs-ebene erneuert. Als Feldbussystem wurde dafür PROFIBUS und PROFIBUS-DP ausgewählt. Vor allem durch die Durchgängigkeit und die hohe Flexibilität, sowie die optimale Einbindung in die verschiedenen Hardwarekonzepte konnten die Anforderungen dieser komplexen Aufgabenstellung bestmöglich realisiert werden.

Abstract

In 1996 Voest Alpine Stahl Linz GmbH has entirely modernized its cold rolling-mill KWW2. Besides extensive mechanical changes the complete automation level has been modernized. PROFIBUS-DP was chosen as a fieldbus system to manage the communication tasks. Most crucial for going with PROFIBUS was its high transparency and flexibility as well as the ability of an optimum integration of different hardware concepts. These features complied ideally with the tough requirements for Voests complex tasks.
