Einbettung von Feldbussen in das Internet-Management

Kurzfassung

Die Vernetzung in Bürokommunikation und Prozeßautomatisierung haben sich zwar unabhängig voneinander entwickelt, können aber in Teilbereichen günstig kombiniert werden. Die Anbindung von Feldbussen an klassische LANs und damit an das Internet ist beispielsweise in den Bereichen Fernüberwachung und -wartung interessant. Eine derartige Vernetzung bedarf aber eines globalen Managementkonzepts. Wir schlagen daher die Erweiterung des erprobten Internet-Standards SNMP auf Feldbusse vor und präsentieren eine Lösung für PROFIBUS.

Abstract

Although network concepts for process and office automation evolved independently, they can be combined with benefit. The primary advantage of such an interconnection is the possibility of remote access to fieldbus systems and the use of standard networking tools for this purpose. It is evident that this idea is feasible only with a unified and globally accepted management approach. Hence we propose to extend the proven Internet standard SNMP to fieldbus systems and present an implementation for PROFIBUS.
