Neurosurgical Manpower in France

The neurosurgical manpower has been rather stable in France over the last ten years. A detailed account of the present situation is given in Table 1. The large majority of qualified neurosurgeons are working in public hospitals, mostly in university hospitals (245). A limited number, recently slightly increasing, are working in private hospitals (58). Neurosurgeons in training either from France (45) or from foreign countries (65) form a supplementary group (110).
