The Spin of the Nucleon

Abstract

We present here the status of the experimental studies on the spin structure of the nucleon. Recent results on spin structure functions measurements are shown. Global QCD analyses of all available data allow to determine the singlet and non singlet polarized parton distributions; they confirm the small contribution of quark spin to the nucleon spin. The results indicate a possible sizable contribution from the gluon (ΔG) to the spin of the nucleon. Direct measurements of ΔG foreseen at future experiments are described.
