Few-Body Problems in Physics ’98

Part of the book series: Few-Body Systems ((FEWBODY,volume 10))

Abstract

The three-body problem is formulated by use of hyperspherical coordinates and an adiabatic expansion of the Faddeev equations. For large distances and short-range potentials the equations simplify substantially and allow high accuracy solutions. The method can be formulated in two dimensions where the three-body systems have different properties. Applications for halo nuclei, Borromean systems, Efimov states, the hypertriton and helium plasma in astrophysical surroundings are briefly discussed.
