These standard incidences are the most often quoted in current literature. They concern the cortical anatomy as well as the deep structures such as the thalamus, the central nuclei, the diencephalomesencephalic junction, and the hippocampus. This is the reason why this atlas devotes more space and precision to the coronal sections which are divided into three parts:
a complete collection of 2 mm thick sections,
a special study of the occipital lobe,
enlargements showing the relationships between internal structures and external aspect of the brain.
