Abstract
The indications for treating spasticity in children affected with cerebral palsy will be discussed for each of the functional groups as outlined in Table 1 and defined in the chapter on childhood spasticity. It should be noted that catagorization of all patients into one of several specific functional groups with associated treatment recommendations is not always possible. Some patients may possess a set of characteristics which bridge several of these groups. Each case must be individually evaluated with deviations from the “norm” considered. An appropriate treatment plan is then designed based upon each child’s clinical status.
