Sectorial posterior rhizotomy for the treatment of spasticity in children with cerebral palsy

  • Chapter
Neurosurgery for Spasticity

Abstract

From 1967 to 1982, 60 children or young adults have been operated on in the neurosurgical clinic of Montpellier, using the successive evolutive technical modalities of posterior rhizotomy. Quantitative Posterior Rhizotomy (Gros et al. 1967, Ouaknine 1980) and Sectorial Posterior Rhizotomy (Privat et al. 1975, Gros 1979) [see previous chapter by J.M. Privat and Ch. Privat for technical description]. The present study analyzes the long term results obtained in this cerebral palsy series.
