Therapeutischer Schlafentzug und antidepressive Medikation

Zusammenfassung

Bereits die ersten Untersuchungen zur antidepressiven Wirksamkeit des therapeutischen Schlafentzugs (SE) (Pflug und Tölle 1971) wiesen auf den in der Praxis notwendigen Zusammenhang zwischen SE und antidepressiver Medikation hin (Kasper et al. 1991). Die Notwendigkeit der Kombination ergibt sich aus klinischen Gründen, da es z.B. oft nicht vereinbar ist, die bestehende antidepressive Medikation während SE abzusetzen und zum anderen da der antidepressive Effekt des SE nur kurzfristig anhält und bei einem Großteil der Patienten nach der erneut durchschlafenen Nacht die depressive Symptomatik wieder auftritt (Kuhs und Tölle 1986, Leibenluft und Wehr 1992, Kasper 1993).
