Zusammenfassung

Die Niere unterliegt im Verlaufes des Lebens anatomischen und funktionellen Veränderungen, deren Ausmaß eine direkte Beziehung zum Lebensalter besitzt. Sie werden bei jedem Menschen und unabhängig von Nierenerkrankungen beobachtet. Die stärksten Nierenveränderungen werden allerdings durch Krankheiten verursacht, welche im Alter gehäuft auftreten und nicht primär von der Niere ausgehen müssen. Zu diesen Erkrankungen gehören Harnwegsinfekte, ein Diabetes mellitus und ganz besonders ein erhöhter Blutdruck.
