Zusammenfassung

Die Glukosetoleranz eines gesunden Menschen wird von vielen Faktoren bestimmt. Unter anderen modifizieren der Fett- und Muskelanteil am Körpergewicht und das Ausmaß der körperlichen Aktivität die Fähigkeit des Organismus, über eine Kohlenhydratbelastung zu disponieren. Der mit dem Lebensalter zunehmende Nüchternblutzucker gibt den ersten Hinweis für den möglichen Einfluß des Alters auf die Kohlehydrattoleranz (Spence 1920).
