Zusammenfassung

Die Bedeutung des Begriffes Rehabilitation hat im Laufe der Zeit eine wesentliche Wandlung erfahren. Während frÜher die Wiedererlangung der Erwerbsfähigkeit im Mittelpunkt gestanden ist, wird heute als umfassenderes Ziel der Rehabilitation die soziale (Re-)Integration angefÜhrt (Barolin 1993, Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft für Rehabilitation 1994). Deshalb mÜssen heute auch die spezifischen Erfordernisse bei der Rehabilitation älterer Menschen BerÜcksichtigung finden (Andrews 1987). Gerade in der Neurorehabilitation haben wir es einerseits häufiger mit Erkrankungen des hÖheren Lebensalters zu tun, andererseits aber auch mit solchen, bei denen sehr oft eine Restitutio ad integrum nicht erreichbar ist (Auff et al. 1995, Evers und Obladen 1994, Langton Hewer 1993, Vieregge et al. 1994). Aber auch Substitution, Kompensation und Adaptation sind Rehabilitationsziele.
