Zusammenfassung
Die erste Generation der COMT-Hemmer, wie z. B. Pyrogallol, Tropolon, Ascorbinsäure, war entweder zu toxisch oder unspezifisch oder nur kurz und zu wenig klinisch wirksam. Die notwendigen Konzentrationen für eine 50% Hemmung der COMT (IC 50) lagen im mikromolaren Bereich oder höher (Männistö et al. 1988, 1992c, Männistö und Kaakkola 1990).
