Abstract
The Jewish religious and moral directives represent the accumulated wisdom and intellectual labours of millenia, stretching from the Talmud, the codes of Jewish law and their authoritative commentaries, to the most recent rabbinical responsa. All are inspired by the absolute Divine truths enshrined in the Bible, the eternal guide to Jewish conduct. They are founded on the concept of the supreme sanctity of human life and on the dignity of man as a creation in the Image of God.
