Abstract

Twins survey. The region of Lower Franconia was selected for the survey of index-twins since this area has a stable population density with very little fluctuation due to immigration or emigration. The limited representative twin survey method was used (see page 17). All twins who were born after 1930 and were hospitalized in Lower Franconia for a mental disorder were to be recorded. For this purpose approximately 30,000 medical files in the medical records archive of the inpatient psychiatric facilities for the region of Lower Franconia (University Psychiatric Clinic Würzburg, Psychiatric Hospital Lohr am Main, Psychiatric Hospital Werneck) were systematically reviewed.
