Destination Management Systems and Small Accommodation Establishments: The Irish Experience
This paper describes an empirical study which attempted to identify the perceptions of small and medium accommodation establishments in South West Ireland with respect to the potential benefits of being represented on the Irish destination management system known as Gulliver. In the course of the research, a thorough review of both the current structure of Gulliver and of the previous literature on the subject was undertaken. Following from this research, a mail questionnaire was designed and distributed to establishments represented on the system which had been identified using probability sampling methods. The responses from this questionnaire were analysed using an appropriate set of statistical techniques using SPSS software. Conclusions and recommendations for further research have been formulated.
