Abstract

There is growing interest in nuclear physics applications of effective field theory (in the modern sense), because this approach is believed to provide a useful framework for connecting nuclear physics with the symmetries and dynamics of the underlying theory of strong interactions, QCD. I sketch here the basic ideas of this approach and present a few examples of its latest applications.
