Zusammenfassung

Nach Übereinkunft des Ausschusses für Definition und Klassifikation der Mittelohrentzündung wird die Otitis media acuta (OMA) als Entzündung des Mittelohrraumes mit schnellem Beginn und kurzer Dauer (nicht über 3 Wochen) definiert1. Dabei unterscheiden wir die akute eitrige Otitis von der akuten viralen Otitis mit granulozytenarmem Sekret. Entsprechend der Definition gehören das Seromukotympanon, die Myringitis und die Otitis media chronica nicht in diese Gruppe.
