BBB Dysfunction after SAH
Authors of reports demonstrating alterations in BBB after SAH have proposed a number of possible mechanisms of pathology, including arterial hypertension, massive increase in intracranial pressure with a consequent decrease in cerebral perfusion pressure and tissue ischaemia, local increase in tissue pressure with microvascular compression, or the effects of vasoactive factors within the cerebrospinal fluid released from blood breakdown products.
