Patellofemoral Joint

In 1994 Rand (1) reviewed the patellofemoral joint in total knee arthroplasty with special reference to the complications and clinical results. The present chapter builds on Rand’s contribution but with an emphasis upon the natural patellofemoral anatomy and its implication for prosthetic design. Thus, this chapter should be read in conjunction with that of Rand. Inevitably the arguments put forward here, being the views of the author, are to some extent incorporated in the author’s publications and prosthesis.
