Total Internal Constraint Prosthesis

Abstract

Treatises on knee replacement surgery often recall so-called constraint prostheses as models of great historical value because of the poor clinical results obtained. In recent years, the increase in cases of knee replacement to be submitted to revision, and the development of “less rigid” prosthetic designs, have brought these models back to the lime light. Thus, it is the purpose of this chapter to evaluate the relevance of prostheses with greater articular mechanical constraint, paying particular attention to the technical features of new models and to their indications.
