  • Chapter

Abstract

Ever since we realised that the earth is not flat, we have been faced with the challenge of depicting features on earth on a flat surface as accurately as possible, thus the study of map projections. It is impossible for any map projection to produce a geometrically accurate map. The development of many different kinds of map projections throughout the ages has tried to make maps less distorted in one way or another.
