Resonances in Few-Body Systems

Part of the book series: Few Body Systems ((FEWBODY,volume 13))

Abstract

We discuss the description of baryon resonances within constituentquark models by looking at spectroscopy and mesonic decays. In particular, we adress the set-up, the kind of dynamics, and the calculational framework for constituent quark models. Results are presented for the case of the constituent-quark model relying on the novel Goldstone-boson-exchange mechanism for the quark-quark hyperfine interaction. We locate the reasons for obvious shortcomings in the description of mesonic decays and hint to improvements that might be essential to reach a better understanding of low-energy hadron reactions within constituent-quark models.
