Abstract
Background:In 1997 The Danish National Board of Health recommended to intensify the treatment of the severely brain injured. Subsequently it was decided to establish two departments, one in the Western part of Denmark at Hammel Hospital of Neurorehabilitation and one in Eastern Denmark at Hvidovre University Hospital. The units should provide early, intensive multidisciplinary treatment of the severely brain injured.
