Abstract

The static model seems to be useful for studying the influence of SU3 invariance on the dynamics of a baryon — meson system. It is well known that the eightfold way is the most successful assignment of particles to irreducible representations of SU3. Baryons and mesons are assigned to the 8-dimensional regular representation. Therefore, only the representations which can be obtained by direct products of the 8-representation are of physical interest.
