Zusammenfassung
Rheologie und Felsmedianik aus geologischer Sidiit.
-
1.
Summary
Rheologie and Rock Mechanics: The Geological Point of View.
-
1.
The application of rheology in rock mechanics assumes that the model of continuity is applicable to rock masses. In fact this may be assumed only in those situations where the accuracy of observation on a certain scale is such that the discontinuities are not visible on that scale.
-
2.
The term “flow” has been defined independently by physicists and by structural petrologists in two distinct different ways. It can be shown, however, that in application to real materials the two definitions have almost the same meaning.
-
3.
There are several ways in which the structural geologist may develop reasonable hypotheses with regard to the constitutive equation of a certain material.
-
4.
The terms strength, failure and fracture as currently used are unsatisfactory. The problem of fracture ought to be completely reanalysed.
