Das Appretieren von Textilien bezweckt, der gebleichten oder gefärbten Ware ein verkaufsfähiges Aussehen zu erteilen. Dadurch wird der Warencharakter, z. B. der Griff, die Fülle, der Glanz, das Aussehen usw., beeinflußt und der Ware, falls gewünscht, eine gewisse Steife oder Erschwerung erteilt.
