Zusammenfassung

Die oberen Atemwege als Lebensraum für viele Mikroorganismen haben einen großen Einfluss auf die Tracheotomie, nachdem die Mundhöhle einen Lebensraum für über 700 verschiedene Bakterienspezies darstellt. Bereits im Mundraum (z. B. auf den Zähnen) beginnt kurz nach dem Zähneputzen die Biofilmformation. Das im gesunden Zustand bestehende Gleichgewicht in der Mundhöhle kann sich durch eine Schwächung des Immunsystems, der lokalen Abwehrmechanismen oder Überhandnehmen spezifischer Bakterien in Richtung Dysbiose verschieben und eine Erkrankung verursachen. Karies und parodontale Erkrankungen sind die zwei häufigsten infektiös bedingten Erkrankungen der Mundhöhle. Erkrankungen der Mundhöhle können Pneumonien oder lokale Infektionen nach Tracheotomie begünstigen.
