Zusammenfassung

Die Kenntnis und Bewertung krankhafter Veränderungen der Leber ist in den letzten Jahrzehnten dank der Möglichkeit der klinischen Leberpunktion sehr wesentlich fortgeschritten: Die wiederholte Punktion hat es ermöglicht, den Ablauf einer Veränderung in ein und demselben Kranken zu studieren. Das war um so wichtiger, als viele der uns am Menschen geläufigen Veränderungen im Tierversuch entweder überhaupt nicht zu erzeugen sind, oder infolge der anderen Bauart des Organs anders ablaufen. Auch die Anwendung neuerer Untersuchungsverfahren, wie Elektronenmikroskopie, Histochemie, Autoradiographie, wurde vielfach erst durch die Leberpunktion ermöglicht, die das zumeist benötigte lebensfrische Gewebe lieferte.
