Sur le danger météoritique en astronautique

Résumé

Par application de la théorie des probabilités nous démontrons que le hasard dans la distribution des cratères sur l’hémisphère Est de la Lune, par lequel elle avance sur son orbite autour de la Terre, est exclu en un degré moindre que sur l’hémisphère Ouest. L’hémisphère Est étant plus exposé au bombardement météoritique que l’hémisphère Ouest (il y a donc une cause déterminée qui agit en plus sur l’hémisphère Est), c’est le contraire qui devrait avoir lieu, si l’hypothèse météoritique de la formation des cratères correspondait à la réalité.

Zusammenfassung

Durch Anwendung der Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie wird gezeigt, daß in der Verteilung der Krater des Mondes auf der östlichen Hemisphäre, die in seiner Bahn um die Erde voraneilt, der Zufall in geringerem Grad als auf der Westhemisphäre ausgeschlossen ist. Da die östliche Hemisphäre dem meteoritischen Bombardement stärker als die Westhemisphäre ausgesetzt ist (es gibt einen bestimmten Grund, der sich stärker auf der Osthemisphäre auswirkt), ist dies das Gegenteil von dem, was der Fall sein müßte, wenn die Meteoritenhypothese über die Bildung der Mondkrater der Wirklichkeit entspräche.

Abstract

Using the theory of probability, it can be shown that, concerning the distribution of the lunar craters, hazard is less excluded on the Moon’s Eastern hemisphere (being ahead in the Moon’s orbit around the Earth) than on the Western hemisphere. Since the Eastern hemisphere is more exposed to the meteoritic bombardment than the Western hemisphere — there is a special cause being more effective upon the Eastern hemisphere—the mentioned result is the contrary of that which ought to be the case, if the meteoritic hypothesis of the origin of the lunar craters would correspond to reality.
