Zusammenfassung

Fortschritte in der theoretischen Forschung und in der praktischen Anwendung der Enzymbestimmungen gehen Hand in Hand. Bisher gelang es nur in großen Abständen diagnostisch wertvolle, enzymatische Proben in die Klinik einzuführen. Vor dem Ersten Weltkrieg waren es die Amylasen, am Beginn der dreißiger Jahre die alkalischen Phosphatasen, während des Zweiten Weltkrieges die Cholinesterasen und in der Mitte der fünfziger Jahre die Transaminasen. Dadurch eröffneten sich jeweils neue Forschungsgebiete. Denken wir daran, daß als Folge der Kenntnisse um die Phosphatasen die enzymhistochemischen Methoden entwickelt wurden und daß durch die große Zahl der an Enzymen interessierten Forscher, z. B. die Bestimmung der Hauptkettenenzyme in Zellen und damit die Aufklärung von Enzymdefekten, wesentlich beschleunigt wurde.
