Abstract
In carotid endarterectomy (CEA) carotid arteries need to be clamped for reconstructive surgery. Monitoring methods available for determining the adequacy of collateral blood flow include continuous EEG recording12, 14, determination of stump pressure8, measurements of regional cerebral blood flow (CBF)17 and the assessment of neurological function with regional anesthesia in the conscious patient9.
