Use of Finite Sinusoidal Series

One of the most useful solution forms for solving a discrete model is the finite sinusoidal series. The two principal advantages of the series over the classical exponential solution form are generality as to loading term and simpler algebra. The most straightforward use of a series solution is in those cases for which each term of the series satisfies the model boundary condtions; thus, the series is both a particular and a total solution. There are four types of boundary conditions (16 possible two boundary permutations) that can be identically satisfied by a closed form finite sinusoidal series. These cases are discussed in detail in Appendix III, pp. 139 thru 146.
