Exact elastodynamic solutions within the context of classical elasticity theory are not available for fiber-reinforced composites. It is, however, to be expected that qualitatively a difference analogous to the one observed in laminated solids, should exist for dispersion of waves propagating in the direction of the fibers, and normal to the fiber-direction. This expectation has been confirmed by experimental results presented in Refs. 3.8 and 3.9.
