Multiple Myeloma

Plasmacell Myeloma
  • Mario Campanacci

Multiple myeloma is a systemic malignant tumor of the bone marrow, originating from B-lymphoid cells, and differentiating in plasmacells. These cells produce specific, monoclonal proteins. Rarely, a tumor with the same features presents solitary in bone, or in the soft tissues: solitary bone plasmacytoma, extramedullary plasmacytoma.
