Zusammenfassung

Der Begriff „Orthopädie”, eine Wortschöpfung von Nicholas Andry, der aus den griechischen Wörtern „orthos” und „pedion” einen Ausdruck dafür schuf, „Mittel zu lehren, bei den Kindern die Ungestaltheiten des Körpers zu verhüten und zu verbessern”, stand somit ursprünglich für etwas zutiefst unchirurgisches.
