Zusammenfassung
Der Zusammenhang zwischen Infektionen und Sport ist aus verschiedenen Gründen interessant. Erstens wird immer wieder der Zusammenhang zwischen Trainingsumfang bzw. -intensität und Häufigkeit von Infektionen, insbesondere der oberen Luftwege, diskutiert. Zweitens stellen bei Leistungssportlern nicht selten Infektionen den Ausgangspunkt für ein Übertrainingssyndrom dar. Drittens bedeuten Infektionen bei unzureichender körperlicher Schonung ein gesundheitliches Risiko. Beispielsweise kann die Entstehung von Herzmuskelentzündungen die Folge sein.
