Abstract

According to the trans-effect principle the diammines of Pt(IV) with iodine in the inner sphere, are capable to replace in a reversible way some ligands occupying the trans-position in relation to iodine. The cis-diammines of Pt(IV) replace one atom of iodine, the trans-diammines two, forming accordingly face triiodinetriammines and cis-diiodinetetrammines. The latter differ quite distinctly from the trans-tetrammines by their capacity to transfer into iodinetriammines and then to tetraiodinediammines interacting with potassium iodide.
