Decomposition of Substituted π-Allyl Palladium Halide Complexes

  • E. J. Smutny

Abstract

The interaction between diolefins and palladium salts in hydroxylic and non-hydroxylic solvents leads to π-allylic complexes in yields of 80% or greater. These complexes have the empirical formula [(diolefin)(alcohol)PdCl] and their structure has been established (1) as the π-allyl type {I}.
