Raman Effect and Competitive Formation of Tetrahedral Mixed Halide Complexes by Ga3+ in Solution

Raman spectroscopic evidence has shown (1) that in presence of excess halogen acid HX (where X is C1, Br or I)- Ga3+ forms [GaX4]- as the sole detectable complex. The present paper describes some preliminary studies of solutions containing two halogen acids, in which mixed halide complexes are present in labile equilibrium.
