Thoughts about the Frontispiece

From Roman times, the most famous collection of prescriptions, also containing remedies for painful states, has been transmitted to us in original phraseology (even though the original writing has been lost). It had been written by the physician and writer Scribonius Largus Designatus between 43 and 48 A.D. for the personal use of C. Julius Calliostus who carried it with him during the campaign against Britannia.
