Interferon in the Clinic

  • William E. StewartII

Abstract

Two decades of research in the interferon system have demonstrated that interferons are cellular proteins whose production can be induced by a wide variety of agents and whose activities are as diverse as those events inducing their synthesis. Interferons can inhibit viruses and tumors in animals and can modulate several immune functions.
