Some philosophical aspects of Alzheimer’s discovery: an American perspective
We are here to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the birth of Alois Alzheimer and to convey to him, posthumously, Society’s gratitude for his discovery of the disease that bears his name. At present that disease remains poorly understood and even less well treated. However, the speed with which new insights into its characteristic clinical and pathological findings now arise gives us optimism that afflicted patients will, someday soon, be better served than they can be at present.
