Norms of hygiene and rehabilitation for the patient submitted to percutaneous discectomy

  • S. Broggi

Abstract

During the first days postsurgery (3–4 days) the patient need not do any exercise, but he must remain in a so-called antalgic rest position in bed (A), and in this position he must very slowly flex his thighs in alternating fashion on the pelvis (B), never more than 50–60 movements in a day. Furthermore, a pillow between the patient’s legs in lateral decubitus may be of use (C). Walking may be allowed for not more than 30–40 consecutive minutes, alternated with bed-rest.
