Cuff electrodes are successfully used in neuroprosthetic applications to activate the lower extremities, the bladder, and the diaphragm. It is also used for the treatment of chronic pain. These electrodes can be positioned so that the relative motion, caused by muscle contraction and limb movement, is minimal.
